This scheme, which is run or implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), was launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day. For this, a separate ministry, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has been created, which is also its nodal ministry. Through this, unemployed youth and such youth who have left their studies in the middle, are given training in 40 different fields according to their interest. In these areas, training is given in some areas like furniture, leather, light and fitting, handicraft, food processing and hardware.
Main points of Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme
Through this scheme, such unemployed youth who have left their studies midway, or have studied only up to 10th or 12th, will be given training.
It is implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
A separate Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has been created by the government for this. This is where the ministry monitors its entire training and other schemes.
Skill development training has been done on the basis of National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) and industry standards.
Under this scheme, 1 crore youth were trained in the first year itself. Due to this success of the scheme, it was approved by the Union Cabinet for 4 years (2016-2020).
Under this, a provision has also been made for reward to the youth who get training, which is around Rs.8000 on an average.
The main objective of this scheme is to provide employment to the less educated youth by training them.
To develop work efficiency among the unorganized sector workers.
Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana
Unemployed youths who are less educated and leave their studies in the middle have some benefit after the start of this scheme. The unemployed student who does not know anything from pmkvy yojana, he also learns a lot through this training, and employment opportunities are created for him.

Eligibility for PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana
- This scheme is for the drop out students from the school. Students studying till 10th and 12th are also eligible for this.
- Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- This scheme is only for such targeted unemployed, who do not have any means of employment.
